Meet Kari
Kari Moyer-Henry is a former research scientist and registered patent agent. She began her legal career at a mid-sized intellectual property firm in North Carolina before moving to San Diego, California. Kari assists clients with obtaining foreign and domestic protection of technologies in the fields of hematopoietic cell transplantation therapy, cancer drug treatment, autoimmune disease therapy, human and animal vaccines, flavoring and fragrance chemistry, stem cell research, immunohistochemistry, and feminine health products. Additionally, she has experience managing large acquisitions involving intellectual property assets, including patents and trademarks.
During her undergraduate studies, she was a research assistant in a molecular biology laboratory studying the transformation of tobacco with Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP). Subsequently, she was a research assistant for six years at North Carolina State University where she conducted research in the areas of aluminum toxicity, mychorrhizal fungi colonization, organic acid analysis and laser confocal microscopy. In addition, she has practical experience in the areas of indoor hydroponics systems, HPLC, plant tissue culture, Agrobacterium-mediated plant transformation, protein analysis, and 15N Natural Abundance in legumes. As a research assistant, Kari facilitated collaborative research efforts between various academic institutions.
Kari received her B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, her Ph.D. from North Carolina State University, and her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law. During law school, she held memberships in the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Pro Bono Honor Society, San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association, Lawyers Club of San Diego, and the San Diego County Bar Association.
